Custom Systems

Below are a few examples of custom OPO laser systems that we have built for our customers. These systems were built specific to a set of user defined requirements. Since every component in all of our systems are designed in house, we are completely flexible with any final design. Please fill out the form here so that we can get started on your custom system.

High Energy at 20Hz
custom

The combined requirement of high output energy at a higher repetition rate cannot be met with a single stage pump laser. The reason is that increasing the power and the pulse repetition rate of the laser results in degradation of the beam quality as well as depolarization effects, both being detrimental to the OPO efficiency.

Pump lasers that include an oscillator and an amplifier(s) overcome these problems by controlling the beam quality of a relatively low power oscillator and amplifying its beam without degrading its performance.

We have redesigned these lasers to accommodate an OPO (and accessories). With the same design philosophy as the VIBRANT and the Opolette, the OPO and all related components, as well as the pump laser, are integrated on a single optical bench under a single cover.

All the 355 nm and 532 nm pumped OPOs, described under the VIBRANT product page, can be integrated with these pump lasers resulting in high energy per pulse as well as higher average power and improved performance.

An example of such a system is presented in the picture above.

Dual OPO

The output energy of the OPO as a function of wavelength is directly related to the pump wavelength. The energy of a 355 nm pumped OPO peaks at about 450 nm, whereas the peak energy of a 532 nm pumped OPO is at about 800 nm. For applications that require high energy at both ranges the option of using two OPOs pumped by a single laser offers a cost effective solution.

A sample of such system is presented in the picture. The output of the laser is split into two branches, each pumping a separate OPO. By selecting the proper harmonic modules, the performance of each OPO is not compromised.

Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV)

These systems incorporate a single OPO pumped by two lasers. They generate pairs of pulses where the time between the pulses can be varied by the user from a few ns to ms according to the application requirements. The pulse-pair repetition rate can be controlled from a single pulse to 10Hz. The main application is flow visualization, specifically Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Systems that incorporate a 355 nm or a 532 nm pumped OPO are available. For more details, download the relevant data sheet:
