Phocus Benchtop

Based on the Ring-Cavity optical parametric oscillator (OPO) technology, the Phocus BENCHTOP represents the optimal light source for photoacoustic imaging applications that require high pulse energies and NIR wavelengths for deep penetration of biological tissue. High damage thresholds combined with minimal maintenance and turn-key operation reduce system down-time and allow ease of operation. A customizable, safety-interlocked fiber bundle delivers light from the system to the instrumentation and prevents system operation without fiber attachment. Motorized tuning, motorized harmonics and fiber bundle delivery provide a completely, hands-free tunable laser system.

Option 1 Group

Energy Level

The Phocus can be configured for two energy levels, as presented in the tuning graphs. Select the desired configuration based on the graph. The outside dimensions are identical.

Option 4 Group

Fast Tuning

This option enables fast switching of the output wavelength such that each consecutive pulse can be set to any wavelength within the wavelength range of the system. The user can enter a sequence of wavelengths into the control software, with any step size (zero to full range) in any order, and the system will generate these wavelengths pulse after pulse. It can be set to stop after a single sequence or to repeat the sequence as defined by the end-user.

Option 6 Group

Motorized Variable Attenuator

Vary the OPO pulse energy by choosing the Motorized Variable Attenuator (MVA) option. By default the end-user changes the OPO pulse energy by changing the pump laser pulse energy through software command. However, OPO pulse-pulse energy instability increases at lower pump laser energy levels. The MVA option involves maintaining the pump laser pulse energy at maximum and using optical attenuation to change the OPO pulse energy without compromising pulse energy stability. The MVA option connects through the electronics unit for computer control.

Option 7 Group

Real-time Wavelength Monitoring

The Wavemeter provides real time measurement of the OPO wavelength, which is displayed in the control software screen. The option allows closed-loop tuning of the OPO , which provides better than 1 nm accuracy of the Signal wavelength.
